According to the data released by the Latin American Association of Iron and Steel (ALACERO) on December 15, from January to October 2017, China exported 62.3 million tons of steel, down 31% from a year earlier. Among them, Latin America imported 5.8 million tons of steel from China, down 7%. From the import country, Central America imported 1.2 million tons of steel from China, down 23%; Chile imported 1.1 million tons, up 9%; Peru imported 795,000 tons, down 1%. According to the statistics, Mexico imported 411,000 tons of steel from China, up 32%, accounting for only 7% of total Latin American imports from China.
